Insight Robotics, a technology company that safeguards natural resources and infrastructure through automation and early-warning threat detection, was named Entrepreneur of the Year at the IBM SmartCamp Global Finals in Las Vegas, Nevada. The company, incubated by the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park, presented its wildfire detection system, the first solution in the world to spot fires as small as a single tree (2m x 1m) within a 5km radius.
This award follows the company’s win at the IBM SmartCamp Asia Pacific Regionals in Bangalore, India in November 2014 and IBM SmartCamp China in Beijing in August 2014. Nine finalists out of hundreds of startups that participated in SmartCamp events around the world, pitched their businesses and technology at the Global Finals. The SmartCamp events are part mentoring bootcamp, part networking and part pitch competition featuring the best and brightest tech startups who are building solutions to change the world. The Global Finals are the culmination of these events over the past year.
The event is part of the IBM Global Entrepreneur program, an exclusive international program bringing together entrepreneurs, investors and experienced mentors who want to build a Smarter Planet.
